1940s Saw Major Historical Events Too

With Clients ranging in age, I am reminded that 1940s had their share of major events too:

1941: The United States entered World War II after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

1943: The University of Minnesota’s William G. Shepherd became the first person to successfully perform a kidney transplant.

1944: The Minnesota State Fair was cancelled due to World War II.

1945: The Minneapolis Lakers won the National Basketball League Championship.

1946: The Minnesota Orchestra was founded.

1947: The St. Paul Civic Center was built.

1948: Hubert H. Humphrey was elected mayor of Minneapolis.

1949: Also, the 1940s saw the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport opened.
